Plain community expectations

Coos County Birding does not sell member information, give it away, or use it for marketing. Email addresses, real names, and ZIP codes are private account details. Cookies are first-party and used solely to maintain member sessions. Advertising is not accepted.

External services

Coos County Birding does not load fonts, scripts, analytics, advertisements, maps, tracking pixels, or other site resources from third-party services such as Google. Site resources are hosted locally whenever practical.

Pages may contain ordinary links to external websites, including optional links supplied by members, but those services are not embedded into the site and do not receive information merely because someone visits a Coos County Birding page.

Photo uploads

Photos are welcome when they help document a sighting. Members must own each uploaded photo or have permission to share it here.

Uploaded images are processed for web display. The original upload is never retained. The site keeps one resized display image and one thumbnail, both stripped of image metadata, including GPS information.

Ordinary member photos await administrator review before they can appear to visitors. Pending or not-approved photos remain visible only to their owner and administrators. Members choose a photo license when uploading, and the default is All Rights Reserved.

Members may add an optional Photo on the Web link to a larger or original image hosted elsewhere. External links may change or disappear. The site links to those images without embedding or copying them.

Members are responsible for keeping their own copies of important records. Site administrators may hide or remove spam or content that is abusive, fake, misleading, harmful, inappropriate, or otherwise disruptive to the community.
